BREAKIN' BAD

The Evolution to Revolution

What living means to each and every one of us is different. No matter what your religion or belief system, we can all agree on that. For a lucky few, living is effortless, easy and always enjoyable. For most of us, living is a mix of ups and downs. For some, living is an endless struggle of enduring sadness and pain. There are, however, two things that we all have in common and which we all have the ability to develop to make our lives happier places to be; perspective and self-awareness.

Perspective

Perspective and how we perceive the world and our lives is up to us. Nobody on earth is powerful enough to control it, unless we let them. Our perspective is untouchable if we choose it to be. Nelson Mandela famously said, “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up.” For his desire to make the world a better place, he was imprisoned for 27 years and yet never allowed his spirit to be broken. A positive outlook is what got him through 27 very tough years. For a lot of us, having a positive outlook can seem impossible. So let me introduce the second secret ingredient to success; self-awareness.

Self-awareness

Self-awareness is priceless and yet we can all afford it. Absolutely every human on the planet can and should invest in self-awareness because without it, we cannot grow and growth is crucial for survival. The more we know and are honest with ourselves, the more we can control our perspective instead of letting it be controlled by others or by life itself. Learning to continually improve our lives, our personalities and our behaviours is our greatest source of power that no amount of money can buy.

These two things are not overnight solutions to day-to-day problems and by nature are ever-evolving, so that an entire lifetime is not long enough to see an end to their possibilities. However, the bottom line is this: None of us know it all. If we want to live in peace and to be happy and successful in all aspects of our lives, then we must get wise.

“A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool.”

William Shakespeare.
